Electric Dryers:

The dryer tumbles OK, but there is no heat.
Failure of electric element on dryers is quite often caused by the consumer either not having the proper kind of dryer venting, or not supplying the dryer with sufficient power. Both are equally deadly to the dryer.
First thing, check the circuit box to see if you're lucky. If the 220 circuit breaker key has popped, push it in again and see if the dryer operates.
If your home has an old fuse box, you may have two 110 volt fuses supplying the 220 volts needed to run the dryer. If one of them blows and the dryer is still getting 110 volts of electricity, the dryer motor will still work and rotate the dryer drum, but the heating element will be starved.
1. Disconnect the dryer from the electrical power
2. Remove the dryer rear service panel.
3. Remove the dryer belt from the idler pulleys.
4. Disconnect the wires from the motor switch.
5. Remove the two (2) screws mounting the dryer motor.
6. Remove the dryer motor.
7. Reverse the above procedure to reassemble the dryer belt
pulley assembly. The idler arm can be removed without removing the motor from the diver. The idler arm pivots on a stud mounted on the motor support.

To remove the idler assembly use fire following procedure:
1. Disconnect the dryer from the electrical power
2. Remove the dryer rear service panel.
3. Remove the belt from the dryer motor and idler pulleys.
4. Lift the idler arm off the stud.
5. Install the new dryer idler arm.
6. Reverse the above procedure to reassemble the

Dryer Electrical Requirements
The following are the electrical requirements for gas dryer:
1. Separate, properly polarized, grounded three-wire circuit
2. 120-volt, 60-hertz, ac power supply.
3. Amp maximum, delayed-action fuse or circuit breaker.
4. Outlet with accessibility to the dryer service cord plug when the dryer is installed.
The dryer must be grounded. In the event of a malfunction or dryer breakdown, grounding will reduce the risk of electrical shock by providing it path of least resistance for electrical current.
If the dryer is equipped with a service cord that has an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug, the dryer plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded and in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

Dryer Exhaust System Requirements
Warning: If the dryer is not exhausted outdoors some fine lint will be expelled into the laundry area. Excessive lint can build up inside the ductwork, creating a fire hazard and restricting the air flow. A restricted air flow will increase the drying time. If the dryer present vent system is made up of plastic duct, replace it with a rigid or flexible metal duct. Make sure that the present duct is free of any lint prior to installing the dryer. Use a 4-inch-diameter (minimum) rigid or flexible metal duct only. A 4-inch wall cap is recommended.
Warning: Do not install the ductwork near combustible materials. The dryer must not be exhausted into a chimney, a wall, a ceiling, or any concealed space of the building where lint can accumulate, resulting a fire hazard.
Warning: Do not exceed the length of dryer duct pipe
